10 Wedding Location Ideas In Tacoma

Tacoma has a wide variety of wedding venue options, from low-key community centers and outdoor gazebos to full-service luxury hotels and elegant museums.

Planning a wedding in Tacoma? Here are ten location ideas that include parks, museums, and community centers.

The Centre at Norpoint has an airy reception hall with wood floors and open beams. It accommodates up to 300 people and the room can be divided for smaller groups. There is also a kitchen and an outdoor patio. Outside caterers are welcome, and liquor is allowed with a banquet permit.

The Museum of Glass has glass-walled indoor spaces and outdoor spaces with dramatic views of mountains and water. The Grand Hall and Rooftop hold 500 guests, the Outdoor Main Plaza holds 250 guests, and the Outdoor Mezzanine can accommodate 200. Catering is available.

Point Defiance Park offers a choice of venues. Point Defiance Lodge has wood paneling, beamed ceilings, a wraparound verandah, and a fireplace. Five rooms offer views of Point Defiance Park and the Rose Garden and hold up to 100 people. The lodge has kitchen facilities and two dressing rooms. Point Defiance Pagoda, in the Japanese Garden, accommodates up to 200 people. The pagoda is surrounded by pools, a waterfall, a footbridge, and cherry trees. It has a large hall with a fireplace and a kitchen. Both the lodge and pagoda allow outside caterers and beer, wine, and champagne with a banquet permit. The Rose Garden offers two wedding sites: The Big Border, which features a backdrop of palm treesand flowers (up to 100 chairs are provided); and The Gazebo, which is surrounded by rose bushes and holds 75 standing guests.

The Seymour Botanical Conservatory has a Gazebo for outdoor weddings, surrounded by park grounds, with space for 100 chairs. The Conservatory itself is suitable for a smaller wedding of up to 35 guests. It has a 12-sided glass dome and a variety of tropical and blooming plants.

The Sheraton Tacoma Hotel can accommodate large and small groups. It provides full-service event planning and catering, and offers a variety of space options.

South Park Community Center features a landscaped park, rose garden, and gazebo for weddings. The Center can hold up to 325 reception guests and has a dance floor and kitchen for outside caterers. Alcohol is allowed with a banquet permit.

The Tacoma Nature Center has a scenic outdoor area for weddings. The Center's gathering room has floor to ceiling windows overlooking lake and woods and can accommodate up to 80 people. Outside caterers are permitted, as well as liquor (with a banquet permit).

Titlow Lodge is in a park near the Tacoma Narrows. The renovated craftsman-style building holds up to 200 people and has a dance floor and kitchen for outside caterers. Beer, wine, and champagne are allowed with a banquet permit.

The Vault Catering Company not only provides catering, but also rooms for groups of up to 400 people, DJs and bands, and professional event consultation. Wedding and reception spaces include the Vault's main floor ballroom, which has a dramatic winding staircase. The Vault's penthouse room has tall windows with panoramic views of Tacoma, Mt. Rainier, and the marinas.

The Washington State History Museum offers several rental spaces for large and small weddings and receptions. The Grand Lobby is open and airy and elegantly appointed with arches and balconies. At night, lights from the Plaza and Union Station add drama. The Mezzanine has views of the Grand Lobby and Union Station. Moveable rosewood panels adjust the space to accommodate different group sizes. It can also be combined with the Fifth Floor Lobby and the Grand Lobby for a large reception. Odlin Gallery has a vaulted ceiling, and overhanging balconies and walkways. The Outdoor Amphitheater and Plaza offers an outdoor option with views of the Cascades, Thea Foss Waterway, and the Native Washington Plaza Garden. The amphitheater and plaza can be rented together or separately. Catering is available.
