25 Uses For Baking Soda

As an alternative to household cleaners, here are 25 uses for baking soda you can use every day.

Baking soda is a versatile, inexpensive, and safe substance used for cooking, cleaning and many other uses. Also known as sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda, this white powder-like substance is derived from the mineral trona. The United States has the largest mineral deposits of trona and is the largest producer of baking soda in the world.

Baking soda is effective at neutralizing the acidic byproducts of bacteria because of its alkaline nature. It is an odorless, water-soluble, and non-abrasive cleaner that removes dirt and will not scratch surfaces.
