I do not think anyone can imagine how much they will enjoy their ponds until they actually get them. I mean you enjoy them way more than you think you will and if you do it right to begin with, the maintenance on them really is not overwhelming at all.
When I did my first pond kit, it was like a little preformed hard rubber kidney shaped pond that had no filter system or anything. So, you put it there and it does not stay down in the ground the way it is supposed to. It had a cord coming out over the side for a little pump down in the center of it, and it was basically just a mosquito breeding spot. Then we did one that we made with bricks and cement and that one was a lot better. Then, we finally did one right that had the biofalls and had a skimmer and it was much less work than the other one. It was well worth the labor and expense.
