Only a few artists care for the packaging that the CD goes into. It is probably decreasing more and more, but a few seem to really get a real hands-on approach. The Flaming Lips are a good example. They seem to care about how they present themselves and it goes with everything; the more artistically conscious the artist is, then the more they are going to fuss over how their music is presented. I don't think Britney Spears cares. You can tell by listening; the ones that are trying to say something or make a difference in their own little universe are the ones that you're going to find the art is something more than just something to hold the CD. Radiohead is a great example of a band that really cared about their album. That was a good example. The artwork that goes into that is meticulous and packaged specifically for a reason to go along with the music as a companion. It is a mini artwork and a lot of people in this band would consider their stuff visual art to go along with music vocals. People like Radiohead are more art conscious.
