Anchorage, Alaska, undoubtedly offers quite a bit to visitors. There are lots of great places to eat and stay, lots of wildlife to watch, fish to catch, and plenty of historical sights to see. Here is a list of some of the sights you don't want to miss on your trip to Anchorage, Alaska.
• Town Square Municipal Park. This is a beautiful location to visit, picnic, or just relax. There are countless flowers abloom here, especially in the summertime.
• Salmon Viewing Platform. This is a great place where salmon each year migrate to. It's along Ship Creek. This is a great place to fish, and you're sure to see plenty of them when you check out this sight.
• Anchorage Museum of History and Art. This is a good place to learn about the history and culture of the region. You'll see all kinds of art and cultural artifacts here.
• Reeve Aviation Picture Museum. This is a place you can learn about the history of aviation in the state and see photos of the main pilots who have made history in Alaska.
• Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum. This is another great place for plane enthusiasts. You can see some neat aircraft from throughout Alaska's history.
• Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. This trail is named after a former governor of the state who was also mayor of Anchorage. This trail will introduce you to some terrific sights, including beautiful flowers and plant life and plenty of residential animals.
• Saturday Market. If you're in Anchorage on a Saturday, you'll definitely want to check out in the parking lot across the street from the Hilton. Every Saturday hundreds of vendors sell plenty of Alaskan artwork, artifacts and pieces of culture that attract thousands of locals and tourists.
• D Street culture shops. If you head toward D Street in Anchorage, you can't go wrong by just popping into a few art stores. Make a purchase, or just enjoy checking out the different artifacts and artwork created by the people of Alaska.
