There's nothing like experiencing the wildlife and nature of Anchorage, Alaska, on foot. Nature and hiking trails line the Anchorage area so you can enjoy the best parts of the region first hand. Here is a list of some good hiking trails in the Anchorage, Alaska, area.

• Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. This trail is named after a former governor of the state who was also mayor of Anchorage. This trail will introduce you to some terrific sights, including beautiful flowers and plant life and plenty of residential animals.

• Flattop Mountain Trail. This is a great place for a nice long, gorgeous hike up Flattop Mountain. You won't regret this hike, either, because at the very top of the mountain, you'll be treated to a great view.

• Chugach State Park Trails. This is a park that you need to visit when you're in Anchorage. There are many different hiking trails in the park that can lead you to gorgeous scenes and wildlife that can provide you with quite an experience.

• Delaney Park. This park provides a hiking trail that leads to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. The Delaney Park trail is a great place for biking, strolling, and just enjoying the beautiful scenery of streams, meadows, and flora. This park is in downtown Anchorage along 10th Street.

• Huffman Road Trail. This trail can provide a great view of wildlife as well as nature. The trail here will take you to mountain locations where you can view Dall sheep and other wildlife that call this region home. This trail is definitely a must see on your visit.

• Resurrection Pass Trail. This is one of the best trails Alaska has to offer. You can not only see all types of native flora along this trail. But you can see all kinds of animals that you'd only expect to congregate in Alaska. You'll see moose, Dall sheep, bears, and birds of all kinds that have migrated to the region. This trail is just outside Anchorage.
