Florida's most northerly barrier island is full of pristine beaches, historic homes, and wonderful places to eat. Many of the eateries are located along the Fernandina Beach. The beach is the result of the dream of Senator David Yulee. Yulee wanted to make the area the "spotlight of the Western World." In the early 1800's, he built the first cross-state
railroad, with connected the island to the Gulf coast port of Cedar Key.

Brett's Waterway Cafe
This cafe overlooks the Fernandina Harbor Marina. Brett's is an upscale restaurant that serves aged beef and fresh seafood. The eatery is opened daily for lunch and dinner.
The Crab Trap
The Crab Trap specialties include boiled crab and shrimp. The restaurant's relaxed atmosphere is a favorite for locals wanting seafood. Located on North 2nd Street, the Trap is open each day for dinner.
Florida House Inn
The home-cooking food served at the Florida House Inn is a real treat. The state's oldest hotel if open for lunch Monday through Saturday. The hotel, located on South 3rd Street, serves all you can eat meals boarding-house
style.

The Palace Saloon
Visitors call this saloon a must visit. It's located on Centre Street and open for lunch each day. A visit to the ole watering hole features fresh seafood and sandwiches for a moderate price.
