Savannah, Georgia, is right along the Atlantic Coast. There are plenty of places here to go boating, either in the Savannah River and the neighboring tributaries or in the Atlantic Ocean. Here is a list of the best places to go boating off the Savannah Coast.
• Wilmington River. This is a gorgeous waterway that flows into the Savannah River. It can be accessed at several locations along the body. The Wilmington River is about three miles east of downtown Savannah on Wilmington Island.
• Skidaway River. This is another scenic river that provides some great boating most of the year. This river is south and east of the city.
• Sail Harbor Marina. This is a nice harbor where you can go boating in the Wilmington River. Sailboats make up the most of the clientele here, but motorized boats are welcome, too. 618 Wilmington Island Road. 912-897-2896.
• Hogan's Marina. This is about a mile from the Wilmington River on a small tributary called Turner Creek. There is plenty of docking space here, and you'll find just about everything you could imagine needing for your boat. 36 Wilmington Island Road. 912-897-FISH.
• Fountain Marina. This harbor is right along the Wilmington River and is right near some of the main eateries and entertainment in the town of Thunderbolt. 2912 River Drive. 912-354-2283.
• Savannah Bend Marina. This is a neat place to launch into the Wilmington River, because it offers a nice view of the river and plenty of places to relax for a bit. This marina is on Old Tybee Road. 912-897-DOCK.
• Isle of Hope Marina. This dock offers an excellent view of the Skidaway River on the south and east side of Savannah. This was the spot where part of the movie Cape Fear was filmed. 50 Bluff Drive. 912-354-8187.
