How to choose passwords for online use when you're out of ideas. Do not make the mistake of using passwords easily figured out by others.

Choosing passwords for internet use becomes quite a chore after you have done it a few times.

You do not want to fall back on the old "stand-by's" that are too easily figured out by someone else. DO NOT use your birthdate, your address, your phone number or your children's names. Anyone stealing your wallet could then easily make some random guesses and use your password to conduct all kinds of unscrupulous business!

Instead, look around you and get a little creative. Needing a quick password one day for a "junk" site, I noticed my daughter's stuffed animal friend looking at me from the top of my computer desk...and a password was born.

How about the color of your walls? Do you remember the name of the paint color? In my case it was called Lemonade, and it is always there to remind me. How about the plant on your computer desk? Can you find the Latin name of it and use that as a password?

The key to finding the perfect password is to choose something you can be easily reminded of, but no one else would think of it and associate it with you. Like, your favorite author, your favorite movie title, the year/make model of your first car.

Remember your first kiss? Or first romance? If you are creating a password exclusively for yourself, there is a potential name for you to use.

Think back to high school or college. Was there a particular course or teacher that you absolutely hated? Or did you have a once-in-a-lifetime teacher that you remember fondly? If it (that name) still sticks in your mind, it is a potential password.

What are your hobbies? Use some of the jargon from your activities as a password; fore, touchdown,fixerupper,collector....the possibilities are endless.

Whatever password you choose, try not to write it down anywhere, but DO write down a reminder, such as "hobby" or "wall". That will help you remember your new password, but defeat the attempts of password theives!
