Dill has been a prized herb throughout history. During ancient times they would even accept if for payment of other items. Dill is used to help alleviate hiccups, stomach and intestinal problems, mild insomnia; it helps promote wellness of the liver and gallbladder.
The leaves and seeds of dill contain vitamin C, folic acid, beta-carotene and potassium. These help calm stomachs, kill stomach bacteria, and soothe colic in infants. Dill seeds can also be used as breath fresheners. Just chew on a few between meals, it kills bacteria in the mouth which leaves fresher breathe.
Dill can be made into a tea that helps alleviate insomnia, to prepare use one teaspoon crushed dill seeds, and pour one-cup boiling water over them. Let stand for ten minutes, strain and drink before bed.
In cooking dill is used to flavor quite a few dishes, it is commonly used with fish, poultry, potatoes, cucumbers and cheese. Dill can also be used in butter, below is a tasty butter recipe which can be added to any dish.
To prepare you will need:
Lemon Juice
2-tbs. dill leaves chopped finely
6 tbs. butter
In small bowl mix butter and dill completely, then add 2-tsp. lemon juice. Mix well.
The butter can be used as a spread or added to your favorite dishes.
