Does your dog have bad behavior? Most do until we decide to help them change habits. Sometimes this bad behavior can hurt others and be even dangerous such as in the case of biting. Some dogs are just too hyper, too agressive and sometimes will even potty in the home instead of outside.
I would suggest that when you get a small puppy and you work and no one is home to play with him or pet or console then, then he just doesn't get used to many humans. If you make a dog loving and gentle when he is a puppy, chances are there will be less problems when he gets older. A dog needs to have confidence just as small children need this behavioral trait and the manner in which you handle your puppy will make all the difference in how confident he is as an older dog. He needs to understand what behavior you will accept and also other behavioral habits that are not acceptable.
I would think that you have visited a friend's home and had their dog run up and jump on your clothing or perhaps scratch you with his claws and you are uncomfortable about returning. Of course you tell the owner that it is okay and that the dog is just being friendly, but we know that is not true. You know that you recognize that your friend's dog has bad behavioral habits. If you own a puppy or even an adult dog you need to let him know that jumping on someone, anyone, even yourself, is just not acceptable and he needs to be scolded each time he jumps. Tell him in a commanding voice to get down and even bring up your knee to him each time and scold him until this jumping has stopped.
Be sure that you give your dog enough exercise, this will help him to not gain too much weight which is very unhealthy plus improve his mental outlook. It also will make him less hyper if he has ben in the home all day while you were at work or in the yard all alone.
Some dogs will bite because they are afraid of someone hurting them, maybe a stranger in the yard, a friend or neighbor, then someone will reach to pet them and they will be surprised and bite. Sometimes in rare cases this biting cannot be corrected thru even obedience school or your working with him yourself and you might want to consult your vet or a pet behavioral specialist.
