A word of caution about wild yam root. Wild yam root contains progesterone - but the progesterone in it is not easily processed by the body, therefore doing no good. However I do know women who take wild yam root and swear by it. I recommend using a natural progesterone cream instead - used from ovulation to menstruation. These creams are usually made for menopausal women -however if used from ovulation to menstruation - it helps to enhance fertility in younger women as well. Whichever you decide - speak with your healthcare provider about it.

A further word of caution. Some of the herbs should only be taken the first half of your menstrual cycle -while others taken the second half. The herbs that should definitely be taken from menstruation to ovulation are: black cohosh, evening primrose oil and false unicorn. Wild yam root should be taken from ovulation to menstruation. As for all the other herbs listed - I have read both ways - it’s a matter of opinion. Refer to the bottle for dosage information and seek the advice of your healthcare provider - especially if you are taking any other medications. It is not necessary to take all these herbs. Pick and choose which ones you need at the moment.

All these herbs come in different formulas. You can choose from capsules, tablets and tinctures - depending on your preferences. It’s also important, if you are trying to conceive, to take a good prenatal vitamin. You can find good prenatal vitamins at health food stores that may already contain some of these herbs listed above. Or your doctor may prescribe a prenatal - either way - be sure to tell your physician what herbs you are currently taking.
