The southern Florida city of Fort Lauderdale is known for its culture, heritage, and beaches. You'll want to enjoy the weather and check out some of the culture of the city, while you're in town. Here is a list of some of the sights that you won't want to miss in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
• Fort Lauderdale Historical Society Museum. This is a great place to see some of the artifacts and artwork that make Fort Lauderdale the amazing city it is. You can tour the museum and learn the history at the same time. It's a great place to start your tour. You can find the historical society museum at 219 S.W. 2nd Avenue.
• Museum of Art. This is a great place to see some amazing pieces of artwork from around the globe. Some of the pieces that the museum is most proud of are those of Picasso and William J. Glackens, among others. This museum can be found on East Las Olas Boulevard.
• Museum of Discovery and Science. This museum is home to some of the most amazing high-tech gadgets you can find anywhere. There are several interactive exhibits and plenty of ways to learn about the basics of science–and even some more advanced concepts. This museum also has an IMAX theater. You'll certainly want to take the time to see a show here.
• Old Fort Lauderdale. This is a brand new facility that opened in the Spring of 2000. This is part of the old forts that give the town its name. The complex here offers shows that show you traditions and the heritage of life when the forts were used. There's also a hotel here called the New River Inn, which was built in 1905. You're sure to feel a sense of history here. If you're a history buff, this is a must-stop place on your Tour of Fort Lauderdale. It can be found along 2nd Avenue.
