INGREDIENTS
4 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
8 slices of bread
8 Tablespoons of butter or margarine
Mix the milk and the egg.
Mix the egg and milk together.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter (per slice of bread) in a pan over a medium heat.
Dip one slice of bread in the egg mixture and then fry until golden brown on both sides.
Repeat with the rest of the bread.
French toast tastes delicious eaten as is, or served with bacon and eggs.
VARIATIONS
1. Mash 3 bananas and spread on top of the french toast.
2. Serve with honey or syrup.
3. Mix 1 teaspoon of sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon together (per slice of french toast) sprinkle this over the french toast.
4. Before dipping the bread in the egg mixture, spread two slices of bread on one side with jam of your choice. Sandwich the two sides together (jam facing inwards), and then dip the sandwich into the egg mixture. Add an extra 2 teaspoons of butter to the pan. Fry the sandwich till golden brown on both sides.
5. Using the same method in number 4 above, this time use a fried egg, or mince, or shredded chicken, to sandwich the bread together.
