While Hershey, Pennsylvania is known as the Chocolate Capital of the World, it is also home to one of the country's biggest amusement parks.
Hershey is situated half-way between Philadelphia and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and is easily accessible from the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Unlike many theme parks, Hershey Park offers something for everyone. The amusement park offers the country's biggest wooden roller coaster as well as a number of thrill rides and rides for smaller children. The one-price admission is good for all of the amenities inside the Park from the "Super Duper Looper" to the small concerts which are held in the amphitheater. There is also an abundance and variety of places to eat whether you in the mood for an old-fashioned Pennsylvania Dutch dinner or a serving of pasta, you can find it in the park and the good news is, the prices are very reasonable. Of course, there are Hershey's chocolate bar machines located throughout the park.
If you visit the park in the summer and want to experience the thrill rides, you may find yourself in line for 45 minutes to an hour. You can extend your visit over a couple of days as there are three hotels adjacent to the park as well as several more in the vicinity of Hershey Park. But rest assured there is plenty to keep you busy should you choose to make a vacation out of your visit.
If you get queasy just looking at the huge loops of steel, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy. The park offers a tour of "Chocolate Town" where you can watch the chocolate bars being made.
The park also boast two concert venues - the outdoor Hershey Park Stadium and the indoor Hershey Park Arena. Both offer the best of big name concerts. If you are going to the park for a concert, make a day of it and show your concert ticket at the entrance to the amusement park and enjoy the park for half-price.
Hershey Park is just not a summertime place to visit. In fact, Christmas at Hershey is one of the most beautiful and amazing holiday displays in the country. Admission to Christmas at Hershey is free. There is, however, various charges for different activities, but the free display is a joy in itself.
