Having the best looking house in your neighborhood should be important to you even though it takes a lot of work. When someone drives up to your front door you want them to say that you have a beautiful house.

First, start at the curb and go over every inch of cleaning, trimming the hedges and weeding all areas.

Second, if concrete drives are stained, clean them with a grease solvent and if you have a gravel driveway it might need a fresh spread of gravel or chips.

Third, your gutters might need to be straightened, and if necessary, a fresh coat of paint would enhance the appearance and add to the value of your home. It's important to remember "first impressions are lasting." They could actually make or break a sale if you decide to sell your home.

Fourth, your windows should shine inside and outside, and the sills should have a fresh coat of paint. This type of clean-up will work wonders, even on older dwellings.

Fifth, if the brick on the outside of the house is badly in need of mortar repair and tuck pointing, you can have a handy man touch it up with some of the cosmetic caulk products available at any lumber yard.

Be sure to check all light bulbs in the fixtures around the outside of the house.

Take a look at your outside doors and if they need replacing do so or if they can be painted you can save money by having them painted. Remember.... clean, clean, clean, because paint and regular lawn care works wonders and increases value when it comes to curb apeal.
