It's 8:00 p.m. and you haven't finished washing the dishes, it's time to pay bills for the month and tomorrow is another school day. You have fifty million things to do tomorrow that half of them won't get done. Everything is a mess and nothing is organized. You can't go on like this, you need to stop and organize your life. Being a mother is a hard job and you need organization just like someone working in a office.
The first thing you need to do is prioritize your things to do. Set up a schedule for when you need to do things and stick to it. Have certain days that you do particular things on and do them on those days only. Allow some time for unexpected things to pop up. We all have to do or be somewhere unexpectedly. Schedule your doctor and dental appointments in plenty of time, where it won't interfere with your daily schedule you have established. Try to get your children's school schedule a month in advance for school activities that you will be attending. This way you will know ahead of time when you need to be at your child's school events. Any other functions you volunteer for or have to attend try to get the schedule for when you are needed there in plenty of time also. This way you can work it into your private schedule you have developed. All of this will keep you organized and on track with your time.
Now it's time to get organized around the home. The first thing you need to do is stop and decide what days will be the best days to do certain household duties that will coincide with your outside schedule. If you see a pattern of a lot of school events falling on Tuesday and Thursday don't schedule yourself any household chores for those days. If you know you're going to be involved with school events, why bother to pick those days to do anything around the house. That's how things get ignored and piled up on us. We try to cram too many things into one day, instead of spreading things out. Pick days that you don't have too many outside errands to do and do your insude chores then. This will allow you to complete them without interruptions. If you have to pay bills once or twice a month, always sit down ten days before the due date to pay and mail off your bills. Don't wait until the last minute where you are forced to ignore something important to pay bills so they won't be late. Most bills are due the same time of every month, so why not get yourself in the habit of having a certain day to pay them. This will keep you organized with your bills and give you an excellent payment history also. Try every night to prepare for your children for school the next day. Pick and have their clothes ready at night for the next morning. That way you won't spend the little time you have in the morning looking for that favorite shirt or dress they want to wear. Ask your child the night before what they want to wear to school the next day. This will save both of you time in the morning. Anything else you can do the night before to get ready for school, do it. Remember you have more time that night to get ready for school then you do in the morning before you have to leave.
All of these tips will help you to get and stay organized at all the things you have to do as a mom. Organization is the key to how a lot of corporate offices are run. Those same organization skills can be the key to how a mom can run her life smoothly and efficiently. The most impotant organization of all is family and running a household. Every mother needs those skills to be the best CEO and CFO of the business of running a home.
