A very common question is how to handle stress, or how to manage stress in our everyday lives. We all feel stress if we are in or around a tense situation. Our heart rate increases and our body prepares for a new challenge.
In this article I will explain how to manage stress. Things that cause stresss are called stressors. And of course stress does not effect everyone in the same way. We all act differently around stress.
The first thing to do is to eliminate all the things that bring you stress. One example is, if you are afraid of crowds, go shopping or to the market when you know that the lines will be less.
Clear up clutter in and around your environment. Give away things that you no longer need or use, or throw around the junk that just sits there and is no longer being used. Another way to relieve stress is to help the needy, that always makes someone feel good and help relieve your stress.
If you are always running late give yourself extra time during the day. Set your alarm for 25 minutes earlier than you normally would. Sit down with a pencil and a paper and manage your time, and write down and plan a schedule. If you can not find time to do everything that you love doing, maybe you are trying to do too much and that could be a cause of your stress. Do the things that are most important to you.
Avoid predictable stressful situations. If you know you are going to be around or in stress, cut back ad avoid the situation, if you can not do that, remain calm, take deep breaths. If you can not remove the stress, remove yourself. Leave to go for a walk, this is a great way to ease stress, and make you relax.
Atleast an hour a day, set some time out for yourself. Read a book, go through a magazine, draw, etc.: do any events that you enjoy, or do anything that intersts you, but do it alone if possible.
Before you go out and buy new equipment, make sure that it is what you want and need.
Today a lot of cell phones, beepers etc, only get in the way, and are a call for new stress in your lives.
If you feel that your stressful situation is not getting better, do not be afraid to seek medical advice. Early signs of stress are loss or sense of well being, reluctant to wake in the morning and face another day. Many people are afraid to ask for help, or feel that they do not have a problem. Denial is also very common in a stressful life. Do one thing at a time. If you are riding your boke you do not have to listen to music for example.
Stress can discourage a family, so remember not to take it out on your family.
The best thing to remember is that stress is not a healthy lifestyle, and it is very unhealthy to be around. To eliminate stress seek professional help as soon as possible.
