Are you tired of throwing the same old cake and ice cream birthday party year after year? Do the children get bored easily? The secret is to keep them busy. There are so many creative ways to throw your child a fun and creative birthday party. Trying to decide how many kids you should invite? The rule of thumb is to match your child's age, if your child is 7, it is appropriate to invite 7 guests.

Piñata Party

Kids of all age love piñatas! You can purchase them in a wide variety of designs at your local party or craft store. Buy several bags of candy and a bag of give away gifts that are age appropriate. Hint: Don't buy chocolate candy if it is hot weather, it will melt inside of the piñata. If the children are under 6, don't use a blindfold. Even if they hit it every time, it will take numerous hits to break the piñata. For kids older than 6, put a blindfold over their eyes and spin them around a few times to make it more challenging... and funnier! Don't forget to give each child a party bag to collect their candy and goodies!

Bowling Party

For kids 8 and older, a bowling party may be right up their alley. Many bowling alleys will provide special arrangements for birthday parties. For a pre-arranged price, they sometimes even provide the food and beverages, you just provide the cake! Before the birthday child opens their presents, let the guests bowl. It will release some of their energy and give them lots of fun. Check with your local bowling alley to see if they have a party room available.

Tea Party

Little girls love tea parties. In some areas, your local party store may rent the dress up clothes along with the child-size table and chairs. However, if you are on a tight budget, you can use things you already have. Give each girl a dress, a hat, a purse and a few pieces of costume jewelry. Many children already have a small table with chairs in their rooms. Just throw an old table cloth over the table for decorations. Mom can pretend to be the maid or Dad, the butler, as they serve cake and punch to the little "ladies."

Fun Park

Every town has a local fun park or miniature golf arena. Most fun parks offer a birthday package including tokens for video games, a go-cart ride or round of miniature golf. They will also supply the food, such as pizza or hotdogs, and beverages. This is a great idea when you will be inviting both girls and boys to your child's party. No kid can be bored at a fun park!

Water Parties

For children 10 or older, a pool or beach party are great ideas. You can set up a volleyball game for the kids and adults or the kids could play "Marco Polo" or another fun water game. Fill up water balloons and let the kids throw them at one another, since they will already be wet. Kids love water balloons, and they wouldn't miss the opportunity to throw them at someone. Be sure to wear your swim suit as well: parents are the primary targets of water balloons.

There are so many other fun ways to celebrate your child's birthday. You can try one of these, or come up with one of your own. Keep it fun and entertaining for the youngsters, and it will be a success!
