This is Nebraska's first state park. Established in 1921, this historic and popular 1, 000 acre park is a great spot for families and large groups. The popular Pine Ridge Trail starts here, and covers more than 25 miles of ground. There are 90 campsites on the grounds, some with electrical hookups. There's a dumping station, as well, and several cabins for rent. This park is open year round.

If you're looking for a unique experience, here's one for you! Platte River State Park features cabin-style and teepee camping only. Traditional tents and RV's are not allowed inside the grounds. There are 52 camping cabins open in the spring, summer and fall, and 19 cabins open for the winter season. More adventurous campers can stay inside teepees. Tennis courts, hiking trails, and swimming are available inside the confines of the camp.

Canoe loving campers will appreciate Two Rivers Recreation Area! This is a popular and heavily visited stopover for those taking a trek on the Platte River/Nebraska Canoe Trail. Campsites are primitive along the water's edge. Those only interested in camping can stay in one of 330 campsites in the center of the park, 90 of which have electrical hookups. Unique to this park are cabooses which serve as mock cabins. The Game and Parks Commission in Nebraska has refurbished 10 old Union Pacific Railroad cabooses for overnight guests. Each of the cars has a full kitchen, air conditioning, plumbing and can house up to 6 persons. This park is big and has lots to do. If you're looking for peace and quiet, you may want to check elsewhere.

20,000 acres of forest are grown here, making this one of the largest parks in Nebraska, and a great place to commune with nature. Camping facilities are available to those who want an "outback" experience, and also to those who need a few amenities. Hiking and biking trails are a nice addition to this large, almost untouched area.

With the Missouri River flowing through it's center, Ponca State Park and all its 1,300 acres is a gorgeous site. Seventeen miles of trails are open to mountain bikers, hikers and skiers. The hardwood forest areas which encompass much of the land, date back to the 1600s, and are an unbelievable site. Campers have their choice of tent-only grounds or one of 72 electric sites. Cabins are also available for rent April-November.

This is Nebraska's largest reservoir. Almost 36,000 acres of water make up this park. Made up of 12 separate recreation areas, there's lots to see and do in this area. Fishing is tops, and with daily boat launches and an ample supply of bait and tackle shops, you'll have no reason not to get out and toss a line. A park permit is required to camp this area. The camping area includes more than 105 miles of sandy beaches. This is a nice spot for families.
