It's raining and your children are climbing the walls. What should you do when they complain that they are bored? Here's a handy list of fifteen fun indoor activities.

1. Play "What is it?" Have one of your children describe something in the room, without telling what it is. Have the describer write down the name of the object on a slip of paper. Take turns guessing what it is. The child who guesses correctly, then gets to be the describer.

2. Write letters to favorite relatives. Take the time to teach your children how to write a friendly letter. Have them write to a favorite relative, friend, or teacher.

3. Break out the crayons and paper. Have your children create rainy day cartoon strips. Let their imaginations be their guides.

4. Use the weather to hone your science skills. Predict how much rain will fall and put a cup outside to measure the rain fall.

5. Use flashlights to create shadows of different objects on plain pieces of drawing paper. Trace the shadows. Now decorate them!

6. Bake bread or cookies from scratch. Include the whole family in the cooking process.

7. Have an ice cube race. The person with the last piece of unmelted ice cube wins. Give everyone an ice cube. Tell them to do whatever they can to keep their ice cube from melting. See who has their ice cube the longest. He or she is the winner.

8.Blow bubbles indoors! Experiment with the bubbles. Put one in the freezer. Put one out in the rain.

9. Make a family drawing. Using just one large sheet of paper, have everyone work together to create a family drawing. Draw yourself or someone in your family.

10. Play the radio and dance. Move the furniture. Create a dance floor. Beat the blues on a rainy day by be bopping them away.

11. Play dress-up. Trade clothes. Put on make-up. Drag out the old Halloween costumes. Be sure to take photos!

12. Write rainy day poems. Write poems about puddles, mud, raindrops, or grey skies.

13. Play board games. Play that six hour game of Monopoly. Have a board game tournament. The possibilities are endless.

14. Put on a show. Have your kids act out their favorite story for you. Have a comedy hour and let them try doing stand-up comedy routines. Flex their talents and let them show off.

15. Remind them that it rains for lots of good reasons. Make a list of all the good things about rain. List all the different forms of precipitation.

Remember, the sun will be back out soon!
