Stress can negatively impact your physical, mental, and spiritual health. It adversely affects your immune system. Stress lowers your productivity at home and at work. Stress strains marital relationships and friendships. Stress also affects parenting skills.

How can you, today's busy woman, accomplish everything you need to do, without becoming stressed out? It's not impossible. A little practice and you, too, can shake the stress off your shoulders! Once you learn to control and relieve your stress level, you'll see that you're able to accomplish more at home and at work.

Try these easy relaxation techniques. They can be done almost anywhere at anytime. They work. Sometimes they take a little practice before they become affective, but they do work.

Take breaks.

If you’re at home, take a walk outside. Rest in a quiet place for five minutes. Clear your mind and focus only on rejuvenating your body, mind, and soul. Think peaceful, calming thoughts. Call a friend and vent, if you need to talk. After five minutes or so, return to the task that you left.

If you’re at work, get up and move around a little. Go chat with a co-worker for a moment or two. Disappear into a bathroom stall for some solitude. Volunteer to make the lunch run, just to get out of the building for a little bit. Be sure to enjoy the break, as just that, a break. Don’t think about whatever was stressing you out. Just relax for a few precious moments. Then, get back to work!

Breathe. Take some deep breaths, the moment you begin to feel overwhelmed. Count to ten in your head. Let the deep breathing help to circulate more oxygen throughout your body. This should center you.

Exercise daily. Even if you just take a walk around your local mall, if you exercise daily, you will notice that your stress level will dramatically drop. Exercising helps the body eliminate toxins that are related to stress. So, ride your bike! Take a walk! Play tennis! Have fun exercising, but do it on a daily basis.

Delegate. Women tend to take on more than they can handle; they seem to fear that no one else will do it the way they will! Lighten up. If your husband mixes colors and whites when he does the laundry, suggest he separate them. Don’t take on all the laundry. If your kids’ rooms are less than immaculate, close their bedroom doors. Ask them to straighten up their rooms. Don’t do it for them. You'll find that you are more relaxed. You'll also be much easier to live with, once you've stopped trying to make everyone around you live up to your level of perfection!

Prioritize. Sweat the big stuff. Forget the little stuff. Enough said.

Finally, TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF. MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF.

AT WORK-Get to work five minutes early and read a morning affirmation. Sip your favorite morning beverage, as you're reading.

AT Home- Lock the bathroom door and put a do not disturb sign on it. Take a bubble bath.

Meditate for a few moments at work or at home.

Visualize yourself as happy, successful, and stress-free. Your productivity WILL increase. Your attitude will improve. Your body, mind, and soul will thank you.
