Bertrand Russell, recipient of the 1950 Nobel Prize for Literature, was born in Wales. His parents, John and Kate Amberley, died when he was young, and he was reared by his grandparents. He was the grandson of Lord John Russell, and he later became Earl Russell. He was educated at Trinity College.
Russell published books on logic, epistemology, and mathematics. He is considered to be one of the founders of analytic philosophy. In 1901 he discovered the logical paradox which is now known by his name, Russell's paradox.
Bertrand Russell died in Wales in 1970.
