There are several excellent restaurants that call Tybee Island, Georgia, home. This island is minutes from the historical city of Savannah, and is right on the Atlantic Ocean. Here is a list of some of the good restaurants you need to experience on Tybee Island.
• Hunter House. This is the finest restaurant on the island. It's located in a beach house that was built in 1910 and also acts as a bed and breakfast to guests to the island. This restaurant serves some great food in a secluded setting along the ocean. Expect to pay $18-35 per entree here. 1701 Butler Avenue. 786-7515.
• The North Beach Grill. This restaurant is an outdoor eatery that's literally right on the beach. This restaurant offers fine seafood–and plenty of quick sandwiches, depending on what you're in the mood for. You can eat in the nicer inside restaurant portion of the building, or enjoy yourself in a casual atmosphere outside right on the beach. This restaurant is on the north end of the Tybee beach and is well worth finding. You'll pay $8-15 an entree here. 41-A Meddin Drive. 786-9003.
• The Crab Shack. This is an excellent restaurant a few miles from the Atlantic shore. It's kind of tricky to find, but once you do, you'll be glad. Look for the signs along the main strip coming onto Tybee Island and turn inland, you'll run right into one of the best restaurants in the area. The Crab Shack offers some of the best seafood anywhere. It offers casual dining in a unique setting. This restaurant is right in a marshy area of the island, and you can watch boats and wildlife do their thing while you eat. You'll spend $7-18 per entree here. 40 Estill Hammock Road. 786-9857.
• The Breakfast Club. This is a world famous breakfast place that you simply don't want to miss. This restaurant is only open for breakfast but always draws a large crowd. There is typically a line forming out front of the restaurant to get a table. You'll pay $6-10 a plate here. 1500 Butler Avenue. 786-5984.
