With so many websites up and running today, there are literally thousands of items being given away every hour over the internet. All you have to know is where to find them! There are six resources you can use through the internet to find enough freebies to fill your every need.
Search Engines
When using a search engine to look for giveaways, you need to be specific in your search. Good keywords and phrases to use include: "freebies", "free stuff", "free items", "free sample", "free samples" and "free supplies". Many of these searches will bring up websites listings with links to the actual free items. A search on just the word "free" will give you a million results with 95% of them being garbage and not what you were looking for. You can also search for very specific items: "free t-shirts", "free make-up", "free salad dressing". It is important to remember to use quotes when entering your phrases into the search field, so that the engine is looking for the right thing.
Listservs
You can also use a search engine to run a search for listservs. Listservs are mailing lists that you can join and members share information with others on the list. Once you find listserv listings you can search the listings for topics of interest to you, and then sign up. Your mailbox can get quite full with offers others have found, so it is best to watch for posting rules. Some listservs will require the offer be put in the subject line - this way you will know right away if it is something you are looking for without reading the entire email -who wants to read 500 times that you can get a free ketchup bottle pin if you are one of the first 50 to sign up?
Newsgroups
Newsgroups are very similar to listservs. You can find newsgroup listings through search engines. Depending on your internet server however, you may either receive your newsgroup messages in email, or you may have to go to a certain area to pick up your messages where messages are stored in a bulletin or message board type system. Most newsgroups are not moderated, and you may find yourself digging through a lot of garbage messages to find something you can really use.
Chat rooms
Chat rooms are available all over the internet now and you may find that some of the listservs, newsgroups, or even websites of freebie listings sponsor one. These are good places to meet up with others who are on the same quest as you. Chat rooms for people to discuss freebies can also be found through search engines - simply add the words "chat room" to you search phrase.
Product packaging
In today's world, almost every company has a website, from huge conglomerations, to the self employed work at home mom who makes cheerleading outfits for dolls, and everyone in between. Most companies are easy to find as their address is: companyname.com. Those that aren't can usually be found either through a search engine or on the product's packaging. When you go directly to a companies website, sometimes they will be offering a free giveaway, other times they will have a newsletter to sign up for which will notify you of special offers. You can also use the "contact us" link on websites to write to the company to request a free sample, complain about a product, or give rave reviews. Many companies send out free items to customers who do either if you give them your mailing address.
By using these methods and resources you can find all kinds of items for nothing - clothing, jewelry, food items, diet supplements, and many others. Although it can take some time filling out forms with your mailing information, it can also be a lot of fun when those little surprises show up in your mail box!
