All about anna sui cosmetics

A brief history of the cosmetics line designed by famous fashionista Anna Sui.

Creativity and design have always been the cornerstones of fashion, and if crowning the queen of fashion is a job for those with exciting tastes, Anna Sui has received her seat on the throne. The daughter of Chinese immigrants, Anna Sui grew up in Detroit, Michigan and attended design school in New York City on a scholarship she won.In 1991 she launched her very own clothing line, which has gained praises from celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, Cher, Madonna, and more. Her style is quirky and funky, yet has a touch of Victorian class.

Sui's first boutique opened in New York City in 1995, with a second opening in Los Angeles in 1998, and the next year her cosmetics line was fully launched. Now with over 200 stores worldwide, Sui's trademark name has established a fragrance and cosmetics line in addition to her clothing, shoe, and undergarments line. The cosmetics are sold in upscale department and cosmetics stores all over the world.Eye shadows, nail polishes, and signature scents are just some of the items sold in Anna Sui's online and in-store cosmetics boutique.

Most of the designs for Anna Sui's cosmetic line are a mixture of the old and new to create an edgy blend of past, present, and future.Often the packaging for her line is made up of various shapes, like her "Dolly Girl" fragrance line where the bottle is shaped like a doll's head.Sui Love's bottle is that of a butterfly, while Sui Dreams is a small purse or handbag shaped bottle. Her lipsticks and lip-glosses are often encased in flower-like tubes that resemble roses. The skincare lines' packaging resembles Victorian-era shaped bottles with curvy necks.Ring Rouge is a black rose shaped ring that can be worn on the hand, and when you flip the top open it reveals a pot of the designer's famous lip-gloss in various colors. The Ring Rouge was a huge hit for Sui and is still a big seller.

The theory that Anna Sui had when approached to create her cosmetics line was that makeup wasn't only meant to be used at home, but that it should also be considered an accessory. She wanted her products to be fun with lots of exciting colors, shapes, and packaging. She also admits the main focus was on the packaging, because if it were to sit in your bedroom on a dresser, it should look appealing to the eye, even when you aren't using it.

Purple is one of the designer's favorite colors, and she claims she had a hard time finding just the right shade of it for nail polish, so she created her own. Each item of the cosmetics lines comes in a plethora of different colors.Out of the 51 plus colors of nail polish, 20 of the shades are purple, reflecting Sui's desire to express herself and what she likes through her makeup. The combination of rock n' roll hip, vintage roses, and 1960's hippie have given Anna Sui a definite edge over other cosmetic designers. She always wants to keep things fresh and colorful instead of simple and traditional. This makes Anna Sui Cosmetics not only functional, but also fun and collectible.Since the launch of the cosmetics line, her items can now be found in places like Sephora and Nordstrom's.Look for an Anna Sui ring rouge or dolly girl fragrance at a boutique near you.
