When looking for a teacher, make sure they are a certified master. You can ask to look at their certificate. They should be a master. Someone who is a first or second degree Reiki should not teach. You can't learn it that way; you have to go to a Reiki master. A Reiki Master is the only one enabled to pass Reiki along to others. You should make sure that they are practicing under the Usui System because that is the traditional system, the original. You can be sure that someone practicing under that system won't introduce personal beliefs into Reiki training. You will be getting Reiki training and that is all because, before Reiki you don't need to have knowledge of shakras or healing crystals. Those are some things that some people who have invented their own method will use. You want to make sure you don't get any of that. You want Reiki only. Usui System will be listed on the certificate if that is the system they learned under and are practicing under. Usually they will have Usui System on their certificate if that is the system they learned under. You will know what system they are practicing under. I think that is an important thing to look for in a teacher.
