What should I do if my Air Conditioner is not cooling?

Checking the size of the unit and whether it is set to power save mode are the first steps if your AC is not cooling.

The unit may be set in the "Power Saver" or "Energy Save" mode (some models). Use "Power Save" modes only when you are asleep or away from home, since the fan does not circulate the room air continuously. Use Low, High or Turbo for your best comfort.

The air conditioner is too small for the area being cooled. If in a multi-room environment, close off one or more rooms. Room air conditioners are not designed to cool multiple rooms. Or, if in a single room - compare the cooling capacity of the unit with the size of the room. It may be necessary to upgrade to a larger capacity unit to achieve adequate cooling.

The filter may be dirty or obstructed. Remove the front panel from the unit. Remove the foam filter from the plastic front frame by removing the elastic band which holds it in place. Clean the filter using a vacuum cleaner, or if very dirty, wash the filter with warm water and mild detergent. Air dry thoroughly before replacing.
