You have to join a union if a job says that they really want you and you have to be in the union. Usually the producer will find some way to help you get into the union if they can. It usually involves hours and credits and stuff like that. You usually have to call the union and find out what that protocol is.

It can be. It is usually associated with the actual job and hours. How many plays you have done for Equity . . . you have for non-equity. There is SAG, Equity, Aftra; those are the three major unions for acting.
