Body piercing information

History and basic information for someone considering getting a body piercing.

The piercing culture started up around the late 1970's. During the 80's it picked up a little bit with erotic stuff like nipples and genitals. In the late 80's eye brows, bellybuttons, and tongues became popular.

Piercing would cost approximately $50 and up depending on what you are piercing. Genital piercing could be $125. Corset work (little rings pierced into the back with a ribbon going in and out of the rings) would be more since it is a multiple piercing situation.

Before choosing a piercing parlor, you want someone who has a business license, you have seen their piercings and they seem to be clean.

Piercing is not something a friend can do for you. Piercing is even more dangerous than tattooing because you are going in a lot deeper with the piercing and you have to be more careful with the cleanliness of a piercing than you do a tattoo.

We do not recommend people take pain medications because we want them to know if there is pain. If it is painful, there might be an infection imminent.
