How to Make a Business Card

A business card is important for public relations. Word of mouth is one of the key aspects in promotion or advertisement. A business card defines your company and the work that you do. Gaining clients as well as a solid reputation depends highly on your effort. When you make a business card, you will gain new clients and help the previous customers remember your service.

Step 1

Download and install Business Card Creator or an equivalent product. Download.com offers shareware business card makers. These include Business Card Creator, Paraben's Business Card Builder and Business Card Designer Pro. The prices for these products are inexpensive at less than $30 each. In addition, the programs come with a free trial. If you choose another product other than Business Card Creator, the instructions may vary.

Step 2

Open the Business Card Creator from your start menu. The program is in your All Programs tab. It is the AMF Software folder. The startup window will appear. You will have three options: Create a New Card, Open a Card or Open a Recently Edited Card. The Create a New Card section has two options: Create a New Card Step by Step and Create a New Card after Selecting a Card Stock. Select the step-by-step method for your first time.

Step 3

View the "Predefined Card Stock." On this page, you can choose the style of paper or manufacturer. If you have a preference, select one from the drop-down menu. If you do not, choose a card stock. Click on a card stock that you wish to view. Information about the card will be present in the bottom box. The right-hand side of the screen will display the cards. In addition, you have the choice of horizontal or vertical on the printing page. Once you have made your decision, click "Next."

Step 4

Choose the "Create" button to store your personal profile. Insert what you want on the card. You can choose to fill in as much or as little as you wish. Once you have filled out the information, choose the "Save" tab. Then click "Next."

Step 5

Design your business card. The last page allows you to create simple or more detailing cards. There are three types of templates. The Plain Text has four styles. This allows the information to be present in different places on the business card. The Profession Template folder gives you many employment choices, such as accountant, veterinarian and real estate. If you want a simple design, select the "Shapes" folder. If you want the wording on the card in different locations, simply click on the word and move it with the mouse. Then click "Finish."

Step 6

Explore the designing options. After finishing the business card "Wizard," a detailing page will appear. This will allow you to change the background, add your own logo, or change the font of the text. The background of the card can be a custom or stock image. On the right-hand side, you have options to change the picture. Click on the wording for another window to pop up on the right-hand side. This will allow you to change your text fonts and color. Explore the designing tools to create the business card for your needs. Click "File" and then "Save As" when you are finished.
