Business cards make it easy for you to communicate your information, such as what you do and how you can be contacted. While you might think that, because you are not some corporate bigwig, you do not need businesses cards. However, if you have ever been at a party, seminar or even the grocery store and met someone who could help you network, you could simply handed out your business card. Not only does it provide your information, it makes you appear more professional as well. Instead of spending money having business cards made, you can make them for free at home.

Step 1
Open Microsoft Word. If you are using Microsoft Word 2007, click the "Office Button" and then click "New." If you are using Microsoft Word 2003 or an earlier version, click "New" from the "File" menu.
Step 2
Click "Microsoft Online" in the "Templates" pane in Word 2007. Type "business cards" into the search box and click "Search." In previous versions of Word, type "business cards" into the "Search Online for" box.
Step 3
Choose the business card template you wish to use and click the "Download" button. The template will load into Word. The business cards will include a sample name and address.
Step 4
Copy the sample name on the first business card by highlighting it with your mouse and pressing "Ctrl+C." Click off of that business card and press "Ctrl+H" to open the "Find and Replace" box. Place your cursor in the "Find" box and press "Ctrl+V" to paste the sample name. Type your name into the "Replace" box. Click "Replace All." Your name will replace the sample name on all of the business cards. Repeat with each sample line of text.
Step 5
Save the business card document when you are done. Print the cards onto card stock and cut them apart evenly. Keep them in your purse, wallet or car to hand out as needed.
