Tips on buying bedroom furniture

Drawer construction and wood appearance are the two most important factors in buying bedroom furniture.

Look at drawer construction, because obviously you use the drawers in the bedroom the most. If anything, you don't want to open the drawers and have the front of the drawers pulled off the furniture.

When you were kids, did mom and dad buy your bedroom set and two years down the road all the drawer fronts were off? Anyway, let's face it, at this particular point the drawer construction is probably the most important thing in a bedroom set.

The second thing that I would tell a customer to look at is behind the doors. Pull it against the wall, is the back panel made of a masonite board that's stapled on, or is the back panel made with some type of a wood board that is screwed into the case? That is generally going to indicate more rigidity in the furniture, if it has got a wood screw back panel. It means it is attached to the frame of the furniture. The other thing that I would say is really important in the bedroom area is how are the bed rails attached to the headboard and the footboard? If you are buying a full bed either full or Queen, how are they attached? Is it with a hook on a rail system? Do they provide the slaps or the supports for your mattress? You don't want to get home and find out that you have got a king bed, and it is going to sag in the middle because there are no supports. So those are some little tips to shop there.
