Tips on buying dining room furniture?

See if tabletops have frills when shopping.

In the dining room area, the tabletop is everything. It is the thing you look at; it is the thing you eat off of. See if it has frills in it. You want to see that thing opened up with all the frills. Now look to see if everybody's chair fits next to each other. Does it leave people room to sit? In other words, some times the legs will get in the way and things like that. So when you put the frills in and you are going to seat eight, is there room for everybody to get around the table? That would be another thing that I would look at. Then, the quality of the tabletop would be important to me. If it is a veneer table top, or if it is a wood table top, a lot of times the manufacturers will put what they call a catalyzed finish on tables which will make them more heat resistant.
