Tips on buying leather furniture?

When shopping, ask if a leather product is top grain or dyed.

The prices have dropped dramatically. Leather is a natural product. So as you are looking at a piece of leather furniture or leather upholstery, what you really want to start to ask is, is this leather or top grain? You know in production, the hide basically is split. It is cut in very thin layers, and the top grain is the top of the hide. So you know you should be aware of those things. In the manufacturing process, they should not be in what I would call critical areas. It should be in the back of the sofa or the seat of the sofa, then they may try to position that around. So the question is to ask whether it is a top grain. And another question to ask is, is it dyed? That means the leather is dyed all the way through. Leather is something that should have great durability in your home. So make sure that you are picking something that you are going to own for a long time.
