How can I tell if my crystal is authentic?

Etching and stamping serve as quality markers for most fine crystal.

The best way really with any brand of crystal to ensure that it's authentic is usually done via some kind of a stamp, and when I say stamp, it can be an etched name on the bottom of the piece, the brand, the company name whether it is Waterford or Wedgewood that can be done with a sandblast, which creates a permanent mark on the glass, an acid etch which has the same effect and more recently a kind of laser etching. These all are basically like the label you find in your apparel lines, that guarantees that this product is produced by that manufacturer. Previously it may have all been an acid etch, which... the same type of acid is used often to polish crystal to give it a fine shimmer after... after cutting, which... which can dull the crystal so, the same type of acid will be used through a stencil to give it a kind of permanent mark on the base of the piece.
