History

DirecTV was founded in 1990 and has been providing satellite programming since June 1994. It was available nationwide by October 1994. The millionth DirecTV customer began satellite-programming service in November 1995. DirecTV acquired USSB (United States Satellite Broadcasting) and PrimeStar in 1999. News Corporation acquired 34 percent of DirecTV in December 2003 and the 15 millionth customer number was reached in October 2005. In October 2007, DirecTV has over 70 HD (high definition) channels offered nationwide and employs thousands around the country.

Geography

DirecTV has corporate offices, broadcast centers, customer contact centers and sales offices located all over the United States. Careers are available at all of these places. Installation careers are obtainable wherever DirecTV service is needed. The corporate offices are located in California, New York and Colorado. Broadcast centers are located in two California cities and Colorado. The customer contact centers are in Idaho, Colorado, West Virginia, Alabama, Montana and Oklahoma.
