Is it safe to put knives in the dish washer?

Higher end cutlery sets should be hand washed.

Kitchen tools like peelers and slicers and things like that are fine in the dishwasher. You can throw those in the dishwasher, but high-end carbon cut knives as well any high- end professional cutlery really should be hand washed.
