What are some common garden décor accessories?

Read about decor and accessories for your garden such as fountains, statuaries, ponds, clay pots and birdbaths.

You have a beautiful garden, and you're looking for the perfect garden décor accessories. There are so many to choose from, so how can you narrow your choices down? Our garden décor expert, Carlton Young, can help you out. Young is the assistant manager of the greenhouse and gardens division of Craven Pottery located in Georgia. He's on top of all the latest trends and gadgets.

"Usually, we have fountains, statuaries, urns, clay and terra cotta pots, birdbaths, and concrete planters for the outdoors. We also have pots and urns in stained concrete in different colors. We also do a lot of pot planting for gardens. We also have windmills, birdhouses, and fencing gates. If it has to do with lawn or garden or outdoors, we carry it," Young says.

Any of those items can make a nice addition to any garden. You can also get many of the items for a good price.

If you're able to spend the cash, you might want to check out websites like GardenArtisans.com or other specialty stores. You will pay a little more, but you will have one-of-a-kind garden décor accessories. You can always buy your garden pottery or statues slowly.

If you're more about looking for trends in garden décor accessories than uniqueness, you can always opt for the following items.

"Basically, for gardens the big trends are fountains, statuaries, and ponds. Ponds are bigger, especially with items like fish and turtles. Birdhouses for humming birds have become popular too. Gazebos and swings have been increasingly popular for the outdoors," Young says.

If you're handy, you can create your own gazebo or water fountain. All you have to do is visit any hardware store and ask questions. If you build your new garden accessories, you can feel proud every time you look at your creations. You will be adding a very personal touch to your garden. It will give you more to talk about when you take guests and family members to view your garden.

Remember, you don't have to do what everybody else is doing. As long as you surround yourself with the items you love, that is most important. You can surround your garden in eclectic varieties of pottery flower pots or birdhouses. Let what makes you happy be your biggest guide. (ha ha!)

One item you may not want to forget about adding to your garden is a small bench. This will enable you to take peaceful breaks and admire the flowers you have growing in your yard. If you have a pond or water fountain in your garden, that can add to your peaceful state of mind, as well. You don't have to spend a lot of money to make your garden everything that you want. Think small and soon your garden will decorate itself.
