What should I know about High Definition TV before I buy one?

Some things you need to know about LCD's before you buy an HDTV.

The direct view LCD's are your most expensive right now, but as in everything, you get what you pay for. There are cheaper LCD's and cheaper plasmas, but again you get what you pay for. Tube TV's are the least expensive because basically, that is the oldest technology that has been around. It is a proven technology. There is a lot of new stuff, but tubes are pretty much proven. Your LCD and DLP are your next price point sets, then LCoS (which is liquid crystal on silicon), then plasma, and then LCD.
