No, gold jewelry hasn't lost its popularity. What has become more popular is white gold rather than standard yellow gold. That's because there is big huge demand for platinum. Platinum costs so much more than gold does, but you can get the look of platinum without paying the cost with white gold. It has not declined at all and a lot of people are wearing more gold than anything.
