How many speakers come in a traditional home theater system?

The traditional home theater system has five speakers.

The traditional set is five speakers. A lot of people buy five speakers and then dump them all in the front of the room, but that's not the best set up because the rear speakers respond differently to the amplifier than the front speakers respond to the amplifier. That goes for the front center speaker also. The front center speaker is for the dialog. So for example, the left speaker should go on the left, the right speaker should go on the right, the center speaker should be directly in the center, and the two rear speakers should be behind the head, and the sub should be placed somewhere in the corner of the room to give you the low end sound.
