Why is there Ice forming on the cooling coil behind intake grille?

Ice may form on the cooling coils of an AC unit if the unit is operating in conditions that are too cold.

The outside temperature is below 65 deg F. Do not operate your air conditioner in the cooling mode when the outside temperature is below 65 degrees.

The filter may be dirty or obstructed by debris.

Clean the filter by removing the front panel from the unit. Remove the foam filter from the plastic front frame, by removing the elastic band which holds it in place. Clean the filter using a vacuum cleaner, or if very dirty, wash the filter with warm water and mild detergent. Air dry thoroughly before replacing.
