How to Install Bali Mini Blinds

Bali mini blinds are a great way to add fashionable cover to your windows. The Bali brand is very popular because their blinds are easy to install, are manufactured in a number of varieties and are relatively inexpensive. Installing Bali blinds is very easy, and can be done in as little as 30 minutes. Once they are installed, you can enjoy the look of the blinds and the money you'll be saving on your electricity bill thanks to the added protection of the windows.

Step 1

Take one of the mounting boxes for the Bali mini blinds and hold it inside the corner of the window you want to cover. Mark the placement of the holes with a pencil. Do the same on the other side of the window. Make sure the two brackets or boxes are placed in the same spot on each side of the window.

Step 2

Drill small holes into the places you have marked with the pencil. You do not want the holes to be bigger than the screws, or the blinds will fall easily. It is possible to use a power screwdriver to drill the holes and screw in the screws at the same time. If you do this, make sure to attach the mounting boxes at the same time. Otherwise, screw the mounting brackets to the holes with the mounting screws. Leave the open ends of the boxes facing toward you. Larger windows may need the optional center support bracket. If necessary, screw this into the window as well.

Step 3

Open the blinds and remove any plastic or paper that may be covering them. Align them with the brackets. Insert one side into the mounting box, then the other side. Insert the blinds into the middle bracket last. Take the mounting bracket covers and click them into place, securing the blinds from moving or falling out of the window. Do the same for the other side of the window.

Step 4

Attach the plastic valance clips to the top of the blinds. The clips are designed to hold a couple of extra blinds, so that the uglier mounting brackets are hidden. Once the clips are attached, slide in the extra blinds that came in the Bali blind box.

Step 5

Locate the little hook on the left or right side of the blinds. This is where the wand attaches that allows the blinds to be opened. Slide the hole in the wand over the hook and set into place. Your blinds are ready for use.

Skill: Easy

Ingredients:

  • Drill

  • 1/16 drill bit

  • Screwdriver

  • Hanging brackets

  • Mini blind screws

  • Cover mini blinds

  • Bottom brackets and screws

Tip: Make sure your blinds are the same length as your window. If they are longer, remove the extra blinds by unhooking the bottom and sliding the blinds off the rope.

Warning: Never cut the blinds cord until you are completely sure you don't need it. Cutting the wrong cord can ruin the blinds.
