How to Install a Lexmark X4270 Printer

The Lexmark X4270 is a multi-function printer that combines a color printer, color printer, color fax, and color copier. The X4270 also comes with a handset so it can also replace a desk phone making it a true all-in-one option for the home or home office environment. The first hurdle to benefiting from the X4270 is installation.

Step 1

Connect the X4270 power supply and telephone line. Attach the handset.

Step 2

Power on the printer and use the printer panel to select your default language and enter the date, time, name and fax number of the line you will be using for faxes.

Step 3

Open the control panel and lift the cartridge access door. Remove the sticker tape covering the cartridge contacts and insert them into their color-coordinated positions. Close the access door and the control panel.

Step 4

Connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer. A dialog box may pop up. If so, click cancel on all boxes.

Step 5

Insert the software CD that came with the computer. If it does not run automatically, navigate to your CD drive and run the program. Follow instructions to install the Lexmark X4278. If you do not have the CD, download the driver from the X4270 support page (see Resources).
