How to Install Tin Ceiling Tiles

You're tired of your outdated kitchen. You want to add style, but you want something that you wont see next door, or down the street for that matter. Adding a tin ceiling can add elegance to any room in the house. The textures of the tiles give a room depth and length. Add a tin ceiling for a rustic feel. There are no shortcuts for this project. Patience and time is needed, but the effort is worth the masterpiece your ceiling will become.

How to Install Tin Ceiling Tiles

Step 1

Measure the size of your room.

Purchase tiles for the room according to your measurements.

Step 3

Have the tiles pre-cut for angular rooms.

Step 4

Paint the tiles now if you plan to paint them.

Step 5

Turn off power to the room. Remove all light fixtures.

Step 6

Remove any old tiles or decorations on the ceiling.

Use the chalk to mark two lines that cross at the center of the ceiling. It should divide the room in fourths.

Secure the first four tiles in the center where the two lines cross with the steel nails in the tile joints.

Overlap the tiles at the edges until you reach the edge of the wall on sides of the ceiling with the steel nails

  • Steel nails

  • Chalk

  • Tin snips

Tip: Get extra materials for mistakes.
Get larger sized tiles for quicker installation.
Follow the instructions that came with the tile on how to nail to the ceiling.
The tiles will have nail holes at all four corners for connecting.
Use the tin snips for tight fits so that you can remove a little of the tin as possible.
