What's the best way to care for knives?

Tips and techniques for cutlery care.

There is no home maintenance required at all with Kyocera knives. There is no honing on our knives. None of the advanced ceramic knives require any honing or home maintenance. We do have some knives that have white blades and if they become discolored at all, we'll brighten them right back up to a beautiful gleaming white.

We also sell black ceramic blades. They look like steel knives, but they are actually black ceramic. They add a few grains of carbide to add that color in it for those who like the aesthetic look of a black blade. When taking care of your steel knives, there are a number of products on the market-different sharpening steels and honing steels. Ceramic is unusual because there is no pitting or rusting with our blades, because there is no metallic ions in it. You may notice rusting particularly on the lower-end knives. You will see some pitting and corrosions. That's another reason that you want to make sure that the edge is nice and sharp and you take it in for sharpening.
