How much does a good mattress cost?

A good mattress will run you about 1,000 dollars.

From what we carry and what I have seen, I would say a good queen mattress will cost around 1,000 dollars. If you get into a Queen, and the mattresses are 199 dollars and the boxsprings are 100 dollars, I would be a little leery of those, because they usually are not just put together as well and the warranties also. If you have any sort of problems with them, you really want to talk with one of the bigger companies that is going to be around, because from what I understand, there are a lot of little companies that have come and gone in the mattress industry.

One other thing that I think is very important is there are two types of boxsprings with most traditional mattress and boxsprings. They have one, it is called a working foundation and then one that is a solid foundation. From what I have seen and read and researched, the working foundation is almost like a mattress. It is not as soft, but it actually has a spring system and there is give in the box spring; where as in the solid foundation, it is almost like sitting it on a piece of plywood. Every time you lay on your bed or sit on your bed to tie your shoes or whatever, that motion will transfer down into the box spring and you want it to be able to move instead of just stopping at the mattress. You want the energy to be able to go into your boxspring and it takes a lot of the wear and tear out of a mattress.

There are lots of companies that just use a solid foundation, they are cheaper to build. But you know when you lie on that bed or sit on that bed, it stops at the mattress and it does not transfer some of that energy into your boxspring.
