How do you measure head size?

Hat stores measure head size in inches then use a conversion chart to find the hat size.

We measure around your head right around your forehead above your ears. You get so many inches, then there is a conversion chart that most hat stores have. For instance, 22 and a quarter inches is a size 7. 23 inches is a size 7 1/4. The average hat size is 7 1/4.
