Today, it is pretty scattered. There is less focus on specific stars. Today for rock and roll and stuff like that, the good stuff is usually identified by either record labels, scenes or regions. You have really popular underground people who are popular enough even though they may not be front page news. I guess in the last few years Radiohead was really popular and they are pretty well respected and looked up to. It is very scattered though. What is popular to one group of people will be totally unheard of to another group of people. I think that's due to the internet the way media is distributed. There are so many avenues for hearing about things. There is less of a consensus on who are truly iconic figures, but there are still really important people.
